Suzan Cassar Obituary

Suzan Cassar of Brookhaven, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on April 8th, 2024 with her loving family by her side.  From her simple Armenian roots growing up in Beirut, Lebanon, there began a deep devotion to the good Lord.  Her parents instilled in her a strong sense of faith alongside the Catholic nuns, who formed her values so early on.

With her dearly beloved husband Joe, to whom she was married for almost sixty years, and who preceded her in death three years prior, there began a story of love, family, international travel and adventure.  He swept her off her feet and their lifelong journey together took them to exotic destinations all around the world, with four children in tow.

The home of Suzan and Joe was always filled with love, laughter, family and friends.  They loved to entertain and were quite often the heart of the gatherings, exuding warmth and a genuine hospitality towards everyone they encountered.  Suzan was a gourmet cook, and had a passion for gardening and entertaining.  She thrilled us with soufflés, flambés, and more.  If you didn’t know how to chop parsley, debone a chicken or make a mouth-watering paella, she would teach you.  Her garden was her treasure, and she always kept a pair of scissors in the car to get a cutting of a beautiful plant, a fig tree, or yet another grape vine.  Where she stepped, her garden bloomed, and it gave her and her family much joy each Spring to see the fruits of her labor.  It is fitting that she would leave us right in the middle of Spring, so she could witness the glory of it all from Heaven above.

Our mother had a drive for her children and grandchildren to excel.  She was a doer, go-getter, let’s get it done NOW, not tomorrow. Her life was full and her accomplishments plentiful.   Suzan was beautiful, inside and out, full of love, passion, generosity and kindness.  She had a zest for life until the end.  She was gentle and she was tough at the same time.  Our Mom personified grace and elegance and had a classic sense of style.  She made a lasting impact on many people.  Suzan had a great sense of humor and had a knack for remembering jokes and delivering them one after another, keeping us all in stitches.  Her beauty, smile and charm lit up any room.  The outpouring of love, affection, sorrow and admiration from family and friends all over the world, about her passing have been an incredible source of support to us during this immensely sad time.

Suzan is predeceased by her brother, Georges, her sisters Marie, Antoinette and Thérèse.  She is survived by her daughters Andrée, Caroline, and Jessie, and her son Joseph Anthony (Kathleen). She was the loving Grandmother to her 10 grandchildren, Charles, Daniel, Simon, Sr. Colette, Carina (now Sr. Carmen-Marie of the Holy Innocents), Paul, Andrew, Peter, Michaela and Marian. She is also survived by her sister Josephine. Although our family grieves Suzan’s departure, we are comforted in knowing of her place in Heaven.
