Rose Marie Bradley

Rose Marie Bradley (née Abraham) was born in Siparia, Trinidad, on Nov. 24, 1924. She passed away peacefully at 101 years old, in her daughter’s home in Atlanta, where she lived for decades, after a brief illness on Dec. 15, 2025.

She was predeceased by her mother Pia C. Torres and father, William Abraham of San Fernando, Trinidad, her husbands, brothers Garnet Abraham (New York) and Andrew Lamy (Oklahoma), her sister Blanche Smith (née Lamy) and brother-in-law Kenneth of Trinidad, son Anthony “Tony” G. Abraham, daughter Angela D. Premdas (née Boodan), son-in-law James “Jimmy” V. Premdas of the UK, her granddaughter Janine E. Walsh (née Lazarus) of Michigan, and son-in-law Patrick C. Carroll of Atlanta.

She is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline “Jackie” A. Lazarus of Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, Virginia A. Bradley of Atlanta, GA, and her godson Derek Smith of San Fernando, Trinidad, whom she spoke to almost every day. She is also survived by her grandchildren who reside in the UK: Paul Charles Abraham, Sally A. Parker-Jones (née Abraham), and Joanne A. Salmons (née Premdas). She is also survived by her great-grandchildren in the UK, Alexander P. Abraham, Danielle V.R. Parker-Jones, Ethan J. Salmons, James A. Salmons, and Rhys Phillips, as well as Nicholas S.J. Leemoon and Sophia M.A. Walsh, based in Michigan, USA, as well as grandsons-in-law, Steven L.C. Leemoon, David P. Salmons, and Thomas “Tom” Walsh.

Rose Marie was an adventurous soul, having lived on three continents. She began her career as a pattern maker, seamstress, and sewing machine salesperson at Singer in San Fernando, Trinidad, before moving to London, where she worked as a hairdresser for many years.

She then relocated to the USA, where she also worked as a ceramics instructor and a licensed real estate agent. Later in life, she also became a foster parent for over 45 years, caring for more than 20 children, many of whom affectionately called her Aunt, Mom, and Grandma. She continued working in this field, becoming an official *host home* for children no longer in the foster system, where she worked as a full-time, paid agency professional caregiver until her passing. 

A committed student, mentor, and teacher, Rose Marie was a Licensed Unity Minister and was very active in her church and the Rosicrucian Society for over 50 years, both of which she studied daily. She also meditated every morning, loved gardening, and walked for 15 minutes every day, even at 101, with her walker.

In true Rose Marie Bradley form, she was out shopping the week before she passed away from a perforated ulcer. Committed to holistic care and taking supplements, as she was in home hospice care, and asked, “How can I be dying? I didn’t even know I was sick.” Her daughter Virginia responded, " You haven’t been sick; you had an organ that failed, and you don’t want surgery because of your age.” Rose Marie replied, “Ah! That makes sense. I took great care of myself, yet all things eventually wear out. All you can do is all you can do, and all you can do is enough. I am at peace.”
