Paul Piwinski Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Paul Francis Piwinski, a beloved father, brother, and husband. Paul peacefully departed from this world on Good Friday, March 29, 2024, surrounded by his family at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, leaving behind a legacy of love, achievement, and inspiration.

Born on November 3, 1961, to Shirley (Surman) Piwinski and the late Thaddeus (Ted) Piwinski, Paul grew up in Warren, Michigan, where he developed a deep passion for athletics and entrepreneurship. He attended Warren Cousino High School and Michigan State University on an athletic scholarship for high jumping. His dedication to his pursuits would shape his life and leave an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Paul is survived by his three beloved sons, Austin, Brandon, and Trentin Piwinski, from his previous marriage to Kim (McLellan) Piwinski. His love for his sons knew no bounds, and he took great pride in watching them grow into the remarkable individuals they are today.

Paul is also survived by his second wife, Yasmin (Quadir) Livingston, and her daughter, Sophia Livingston. He will be dearly missed by his loving sisters, Susanne (Al) Iacobelli and Judy (Piwinski) MacManus, as well as his brother, Gregg (Shannon) Piwinski. Paul will be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Stephanie (Ryan) DeLong, Robert Iacobelli, Katherine and Preston MacManus, and Paige and Parker Piwinski.

In addition to his family responsibilities, many will remember Paul for his entrepreneurial spirit and visionary leadership, which enabled him to achieve business success. He will also be remembered for his remarkable athletic accomplishments at Michigan State University as the 1983 Big Ten Indoor High Jumping Champion. His athletic talents propelled him to the coveted spot in the 1984 Olympic trials in high jumping. His 1983 high jumping record at Michigan State University remains unchallenged after 41 years. His achievements inspired admiration and left an unforgettable legacy.

Beyond his professional and athletic accomplishments, Paul will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, warmth, and courage. His warm spirit and genuine compassion touched the lives of all who crossed his path; however, the courage he demonstrated when managing a lengthy yet complex Cancer diagnosis will forever be a source of inspiration for his entire family.

Though Paul has left this world, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing that he was deeply cherished and will be profoundly missed.

Paul's life will be celebrated on May 24, 2024, at St. Faustina Catholic Church, 14025 Twelve Mile Rd., Warren, Michigan. Memorial gathering from Noon until the 12:30 pm Memorial Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the American Cancer Society in honor of Paul Piwinski's memory.
