Norman Roberson Obituary

Norman E. Roberson (Cobb County, Georgia) went to heaven

Born December 6, 1935 in Lake Lure, North Carolina, Norman was one of ten children. Son of A.W. and Bessie Roberson, he grew up milking cows on the family’s dairy farm, working the fields, hunting and harvesting the food they grew.

He served in the U.S. Army for four years and was stationed in Germany not long after the end of World War 2. Sometime after being discharged from the military, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia and began working at a lumber mill which became his career until retirement. Despite moving away from the mountains, he loved going back for visits and often talked about wanting to move back to where he was raised.

Norman loved to be outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and yardwork. He also loved listening to Southern Gospel music and helping others. Most of all he loved his family. He and his wife, Jeanette, had two daughters and he was committed to always providing for them.

Despite facing many medical challenges in his life, Norman never stopped and at times refused to slow down. Dr. visits were opportunities for him to talk about his family and how proud he was of them.

While his family already misses his laughter and quirky sayings, they are grateful that his suffering on earth has ended and he is healed in heaven.

Norman is preceded in death by parents Andrew William and Bessie (Huntley) Roberson, five sisters, three brothers and two nieces. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jeanette (Livingston) Roberson, daughters Sherri (John) Ellenberg, Amie (T.J.) Search, grandchildren Kaili and Liam Search and Luke Ellenberg, sister Lavonne (Roberson) Robbins and numerous nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces.

The family has chosen to have a private burial.
