Moreed "Butch" Kamal, born on October 20, 1953, in Cleveland, Ohio, peacefully passed away on March 31, 2024, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a beloved husband to Taraji and a devoted father to son’s Moreed II (Nikki) and Curtis (Sierra) and step-children Antonio, Allen, Tammy and Frankie.

Butch's journey was marked by resilience, determination, and intense love for his family. Despite facing the challenge of losing his eyesight to glaucoma in his early twenties, he pursued his passion for education, earning a Master's Degree in Social Work, and found fulfillment in his career at the Cleveland Sight Center, where he touched the lives of many with his kindness and compassion. Butch's proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly his role as a father.  Butch's unwavering support and guidance shaped the lives of Moreed II and Curtis, instilling in them values of integrity, perseverance, and compassion. His legacy lives on through the love and admiration his sons carry for him in their hearts.

A proud native of Cleveland, Butch held a special place in his heart for his hometown. Even after moving to Georgia, he spoke fondly and often of his love for “his” city and plans to move back were never far from his mind. Blessed with both looks and charm, he was quite the ladies’ man while remaining a genuine gentleman. Butch found joy in the rhythm of life through his love for music, particularly as a talented drummer. He shared his passion for sports with his sons and found solace in the wisdom of scriptures.

Butch leaves behind a cherished legacy that will forever live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. Along with his wife and children he is survived by his siblings Maryam (Tommy Washington), Kameelah, Jaleelah, Hussain, and Wali, as well as 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hussain and Eleanor and his brother Ali.

May his memory continue to inspire and bring comfort to those who knew and loved him. A celebration of Butch's life will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm  at Twinsburg Community Center/Community Senior Center, 10260 Ravenna Rd, Twinsburg, Ohio, 44087. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you bring memories, laughs and love. Donations may be made in his honor to the Cleveland Sight Center.
