Monte Beech Obituary

Mrs. Monte Ann Beech, age 78, of Decatur entered into her eternal resting place Tuesday evening, April 13, 2021 at Sunrise Assisted Living of Decatur.

Mrs. Beech worked for over three decades at Midvale Elementary School where she touched the lives of thousands of students by being a mentor and role model. She always treated every student and every faculty member as if they were a part of her immediate family. Mrs. Beech was an avid reader, loved to spend time in the sunshine and enjoyed traveling with her family and friends. She was a proud supporter and number one fan of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football and basketball programs. For many years she was a season ticket holder and loved going to the stadium to yell, “Go Jackets!” One of her proudest accomplishments was the dedication and naming of the main entrance to Bobby Dodd stadium in her and her husband’s honor. She was a lifetime member of First Christian Church of Atlanta.

Mrs. Beech is preceded in death by her brother Charles McKenzie and her sister Carol Haig. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Allen Beech of Decatur; two sons, Jeff Beech (Greta) of Conyers and Randy Beech (Lisa) of Roswell; her brother, Leonard McKenzie of Smyrna; eight grandchildren, Bethany, Brenna, Bailey, McKenzie, Abuk, Jordan, Lauren and Connor; and one great-grandchild, Akoi. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
