Michael Ivanovich Ilnicki

Michael Ivanovich Ilnicki, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on July 29, 2026. He will be remembered as an exceptionally thoughtful, kind, and generous person who lived with an adventurous spirit and a deep love for his family and friends.

Michael was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and later moved with his family to Georgia. He graduated from McIntosh High School in Peachtree City before earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Georgia Institute of Technology. He built a successful career in the financial services industry, holding positions at Morgan Stanley and E*TRADE, and most recently served as an Advisor Compensation Specialist at Strategic Financial Alliance.

Michael embraced life with enthusiasm and found joy in both everyday moments and new adventures. He loved exploring new breweries, discovering great restaurants, attending concerts, traveling to different states to visit family and friends, and cheering on Atlanta United at their matches with family and friends. Together, he and his partner, Lauren, shared a special love for their rescue dogs, who were at the heart of their lives and accompanied them on countless adventures and everyday outings. Whether spending time with loved ones or setting out to experience something new, Michael's warmth, curiosity, and love of life left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

International travel was one of Michael’s greatest passions. He studied abroad in Metz, France, and traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and beyond. He and Lauren shared many adventures together and frequently visited his sister, Alexis, and her family in London. Exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and creating memories with those closest to him brought Michael tremendous joy.

Michael was also a favorite uncle in every sense of the word. Although he did not have children of his own, he shared an especially close and joyful bond with his nieces and nephews. They adored him for his playful spirit, his endless willingness to join in their games, and the way he made every visit more fun. He gave them his full attention, played with them constantly, and created memories they will carry with them throughout their lives.

As a kidney transplant survivor, Michael understood the profound importance of the gift of life and was both an advocate for organ donation and a mentor for those receiving transplants. His family hopes that his story will inspire others to consider organ donation, a cause that was deeply personal and meaningful to him.

Michael is survived by his beloved partner, Lauren Tubergen; his mother, Barbara Vickery, and stepfather, Charles Vickery; his sister Alexis Luck of London, United Kingdom, her husband David, and their children Ellis and Charlotte; his sister Claudia Levy of Nashville, Tennessee, her husband Ryan, and their children Evelyn and Audrey; and his cherished rescue dogs, Yeti and Tobi.
