Mike was a friend to everyone. He treasured his friendships – they were with him in the good times and the not-so-good times. His passions were taking care of his customers, scuba diving, & his kitties. He was a good son, good to his Mom & Dad- Linda and Scott Amis, a great brother to Brian Amis and his wife Sandra Amis. Mike was born in Knoxville, Tn. Went to school in Maryland and back to Tennessee for high school and college. He was a veteran, with the Air Force and the Air National Guard. Mike was a Christian and saw the wonders of the creation in the simple things. He moved to Atlanta in 1995 and joined the Fire Alarm industry, first with ESI, then managed his own business, Syscon. Member of NFPA and NICET certified. He loved problem solving and challenges, and he believed that success is achieved by listening to the customer, then applying his knowledge and experience. Mike will be deeply missed; he was such a presence to everyone that knew him. Just at the moment when someone says, There, he is gone, There are other eyes watching him coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, “Here he comes!” He was too young to pass to the other shore, and we were not ready to let him go, but God needed him and called him home. To live in this world you must be able to do three things: to love what is mortal; to hold it against your bones knowing your own life depends on it; and when the time comes to let it go, to let it go. Mike, we’ll always love you and you’ll always be with us.
