Obituary

Seiden, Melvin Bennett, 85, born June 27, 1937 in Astoria, NY to the late Harold and Beatrice Seiden, passed away Monday morning, March 27, 2023 in the comfort of his home with his wife and best friend of over 20 years, Sylvia (Rose) Williams Seiden, by his side. 

Melvin was always an athlete. He played professional baseball as an outfielder for The Washington Senators. He also loved playing basketball. He was an avid tennis player and cyclist. Mel was a voracious reader and fluent in French. His neighbors will remember him walking throughout the community. 

Mel was preceded in death by his mother and father, Beatrice and Harold, his son, Steven, and his dearest friends Elliott Weiner and Nathan Bisk. He is survived by daughters Hilary Seiden Carman, Lisa Seiden Metcalf, Kelly McLain-Treacy (Kieran) and Shelly-Ann Campbell; sister - Elayne Golden (Roger); granddaughters Samantha Grace Metcalf, Sydney Elise Metcalf; grandsons Jarrod Ryan Carman, Jovan Douglas and Jaydn Douglas; nephews Scott Golden (Stephanie), Brian Golden (Teri), and niece Amy Golden Malone (Patrick). He is also survived by dear friend Martin J Abel as well as all of the Goobers and many, many lifelong friends.
