Mary Albright Obituary

It is proper to note the passing on Friday July 16, 2021 of Mary Eugenia “Jean” Church Albright and four days prior on Monday July 12, 2021 one of her two beloved sons, William “Bill” Gilreath Albright, Jr.

Jean passed away peacefully at Orion Star Personal  Care Home Atlanta, Georgia where she had been a resident for the last 3 1/2 years.

Jean was born on January 7, 1931 to her parents Mayme Tallulah Cole and Charles Leroy Church Sr. in Miami, Florida.

Jean married William Gilreath Albright Sr on December 23, 1951. They had two children, William Gilreath Albright Jr in 1952 and Charles Harold Albright in 1955.

Her beloved husband of 39 years William Sr proceeded her in death on December 3, 1988, as well as her parents, her only brother Charles Leroy Church Jr., a grandson Casey Charles Martin Albright and recently her son William Jr.

Surviving are her son Charles Harold Albright and his wife Candace Martin along with many family members and friends.

Jean met her husband at Florida State University where she was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education on June, 7 1952. After graduation she began teaching. When they moved to Virginia she attended the University of Virginia, Charlottesville and was awarded her Masters in Education on June 7, 1970. Jean retired after 30 fulfilling years as a teacher.

Jean was a devoted Christian and actively involved in her church, Johns Creek Baptist Church since 1970 when it was First Baptist Church of Chamblee. In her words “Helping start JCBC has been one of the most fulfilling things in my life. In addition to being a deacon, I’ve taught adults, worked in the nursery, helped repair a seminary in Prague, sung in the Chanel choir and in the Master’s Singers”.

She also started the still-active group Women in Transition (WITS).

Jean loved her family and friends, she loved her backyard garden where her son Charles and Candace wed in 1997. She loved to read and was a world traveler visiting The Holy Land, Egypt, China, Australia, Europe, New Zealand, Alaska, Japan, Russia and more.

Jean is with Our Heavenly Father & dancing with the love of her life. As her son and family watch. How glorious that must be.

She is greatly missed.

Jean’s son William Gilreath Albright Jr. was born September 6, 1952 in Tallahassee, Florida and passed away peacefully at home in Between, Georgia just four days before his mother on July 12, 2021.

William “Bill” was a musician his entire life. He played guitar, piano, bass and drums. He was also a singer/songwriter. He produced music for many years in his recording studio, Voices of Reason.

Bill had that teaching heart and loved sharing his knowledge of music and life. He was a free spirit who was loved by all he met.

The Angels played his mother’s song, Oh When The Saints Go Marching In, as Bill Jr joined his father in heaven to await his mother just 4 short days later.

In memory of a musician,

Music lasts forever.

We miss you Bill.

Keep on Rocking n Rolling.

Peace, Love and Happiness.
