Marthe Davilmar Obituary

Marthe Florene Davilmar “Fifotte” was born on September 21st, 1950. She had succeeded Magnas Saint Victor and Florence Manigat and became one of the matriarchs amongst a family of 13 siblings. She was raised in Fort Liberté, Haiti. In early childhood, she attended Saint Francois d’Assise and graduated on to attend Lycee Paul Eugene Magloire. Later on, she returned to teach ( pastry, cooking and couture) at Saint Francois d’Assise in the professional part for more than 4 years.

She met her late Husband Jacques Edouard Davilmar in Fort Liberté and married December 30th, 1979. Joined by her late husband she quit her job to work at Public School of Derac. She returned to her hometown, graduated as a typist and held the position of typist in the national departmental education. She passionately loved children, raised Dadaille and Tiroro and later adopted Suzette. Her house was the place of study and rehearsal of lessons for many students: Mc Donald, Pierre Henry… every afternoon after school. She became the family seamstress and loved making clothes for her daughter and nieces.

As a citizen with her group GJFT Groupement des Jeunes Fort-Dauphinois pour le Travail (Marie Leconte, Nicole Georges, Alise Charles Pierre..…)launched into social and clean causes for their city.

In 1989, Fifotte relocated to Queens, New York in the United States for more opportunities for her growing family. She developed an interest in the medical field and pursued a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. After 17 years of marriage God answered her prayer and gave birth to 2 children, Jay and Lorence. Her family migrated to Peachtree Corners, Georgia in winter of 2006. Her late husband passed away on September 6th, 2015. She supported her family and carried the burden with dignity.

Fifotte was a devoted Christian in constant communion with her God. Manfotte was happy to have been able to see Liana her granddaughter , she is always in prayer or singing a gospel tune. She enjoyed listening to music. She loves welcoming people , she lived a vibrant life filled with love, kindness, and joy. She touched many hearts and will be deeply missed. Her spirit will forever inspire those who knew her.

She will be greatly missed by her kids, sisters, brothers, nephews, nieces, cousins and their families: Davilmar, St-Victor, Pierre-Paul, Etienne, Paul, Hippolyte, Raymond, Mathieu.

May she rest in Peace.
