Marie T. (Thomas) Pressley

Marie Thomas Pressley was born June 11, 1931 in Coraopolis, PA to the late Pasqualli (Patsy) Ditommasso Thomas and  Philomena Celio Thomas. Marie was a first generation American citizen she was proud to serve her country and to call the United Staes of America her home.  She graduated from Coraopolis High School in 1949. Marie attended Sewickley Valley Hospital School of Nursing and achieved her degree in 1952. Upon graduation Marie joined the Army Navy Corp and was stationed first at Letterman Army Hospital Presidio in San Francisco, California and then in Berlin Germany were she met her future husband, Paul Edward PRESSLEY. Marie returned to the the states where she married Paul and raised two sons. In the mid 1990’s Marie began to study at Georgia State University were she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.  Rather than law, Marie focused on her first passion, nursing, and was employed by Peachford Hospital for 20 years and then St. Jude’s Midtown campus for 12 years.  

Marie is preceded in death by her husband Paul Edward Pressley Sr. and brother Tony Thomas .  She is survived by sons Paul Edward (PJ) Pressley Jr and Daniel Brian Pressley both of Atlanta and siblings Rose Thomas Kerfoot and Richard (Lee) Thomas both of Coraopolis, PA. 

Marie was so excited to be able to call heaven her new home. She loved life. Marie enjoyed singing, dancing, bowling and her church. She loved classic movies, was an avid news reader and enjoyed learning new things up unil the end. 

Marie spent her last few months living at Dunwoody Pines where she made many friends and participated in all of the community activities. She was grateful for her caretakers who became family. 

Marie loved her family, and her country she valued her friends and treasured her “ladies” with whom she shared her life!
