Louise Banks Herring

Louise Banks Herring, 92, passed away at her home in her sleep on Monday, March 2nd, 2026. She was born July 9th, 1933, Mildred Louise Banks in Atlanta, Georgia, at Grady Memorial
Hospital, daughter of James Andrew Banks Sr. and Mildred Rosalie Milam and siblings, Dolores and James Jr.

She graduated from Hoke Smith High School in 1951. Shortly after she would marry her first husband, Jimmy Frank Rogers in 1952. They shared 20 years of marriage had her only child, her
son Frank Paul Rogers. She was widowed in 1977.

She married her second husband Arnold William Herring (Bill) in 1983. The two would enjoy 19 years of marriage, until the end of Bill’s life.

She is survived by her sister Dolores Bartow, and three nieces (Dawn Bartow, Deana Greer and Cheryll Jenner), two grandsons (Jeremy and Luke Rogers), two great-granddaughters (Ava and
Marley Rogers) and many stepchildren and step-siblings.

She was a true Atlantan and lived there most of her life. As a child and young adult, she loved to take the streetcar downtown to watch movies or catch a ball game with her family and friends.
From those experiences she developed a lifelong love for movies and movie stars. She favored classic and western cinema.

She worked at Citizen’s Jewelry Store, where she learned gemology, a skill she would carry through her life as a hobby. She worked at Atlanta Hospital for many years in accounting and retired
in in the mid 90’s. She and Bill would enjoy retirement at Monk’s Corner, South Carolina before eventually moving back to Atlanta. In Monk’s Corner she also worked at an antique store in
retirement, which may have been her favorite job.

A devout Christian, she served on the board of the 10th St. Methodist Church for many years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She loved travel and got to see a good bit of the
world in her lifetime. She visited many parts of America, including Hawaii, California, New Orleans, New England, New York, and all over Florida. She also travelled internationally to Costa
Rica, England, and cruised to many Caribbean islands in her lifetime. She enjoyed social gatherings; she liked dancing in her younger years. Mostly she enjoyed spending time with family and
friends, AND BUNNIES. She loved Easter, gardening, interior design, antiquing, and all types of food, especially chocolate and coffee.

The Lord is my Shepard; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside still waters. He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for
his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me, Thy rod and Thy staff; they comfort me. Thou prepareth a table before
me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the
Lord forever.
