Larry Ham

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Larry James Ham, Atlanta, Georgia on May 18th at the age of 74. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.

Larry was raised in the Gresham Park area of Atlanta and spent his youth participating in sports, including baseball, football, and golf. He formed the inaugural golf team at Walker High School and continued to pursue his passion for golf in college at Middle Tennessee. Larry then enlisted in the army and became the golf pro at Ft. Stewart military base. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and started several companies that made him a successful businessman.

Larry was known for his positive spirit and his life's mission to uplift others. In 2019, he founded “Hope Overflowing in Atlanta,” an encouragement ministry that brought hope and comfort to many. His dedication to serving others extended beyond his ministry, as he actively volunteered his time serving at Buckhead Church, the Atlanta Union Mission, Northside Hospital Women’s Center, Woodson Park School, the Center for Huntington’s disease, and many others. He was a mentor to many and led many men's bible studies over the years. Despite battling cancer himself, he always put others first, never letting his disease dampen his positivity or lessen his desire to help others. His courage and strength were an inspiration to many. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, encouragement, and unwavering faith. We ask that you honor his memory by offering words of encouragement to someone in need, continuing his legacy of love and kindness.

He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Jackye Cumby Ham, daughter and son-in-law, Lyndsey and John Hayes; grand-daughters: Brooklyn and Brianna; and his niece, Heather Ham. He is preceded in death by his parents James and Elaine Ham and his brother, Mike.

A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 6th at Buckhead Church, 3336 Peachtree Rd. NE, Atlanta, GA 30326.
