Keli Burns Imperatori

On Tuesday, May 4, 2021, Keli Burns Imperatori, loving wife and mother of two children, passed away at the age of 42 after a courageous battle with cancer. Keli was born September 12, 1978 and raised in Snellville, Georgia. She was a 1997 graduate of Brookwood High School where she was a decorated athlete, star student, homecoming queen, and fast friend to all who met her. Keli went on to earn a B.F.A. in interior architecture at the University of Georgia.

After college, Keli moved to New York City to pursue a career in commercial interior design. While working at Mancini Duffy in the Twin Towers, Keli survived the 9/11 attack and went on to become an accomplished artist, interior designer, and A&D product specialist. This path continued in Atlanta where she ultimately became the Director of Marketing and A&D at Corporate Environments.

Outside of work, Keli enjoyed painting, design projects, tennis, event planning and hosting, travel, and flower gardening. Equal parts kind and curious, Keli always made you feel like you were the most important person in the room. A devoted mother to Eli Lauric and Evie Roo Imperatori, Keli’s greatest legacy was inspiring her children to excel in their passions.

Keli is survived by her husband, Jay Imperatori; son, Eli Lauric; daughter, Evie Roo; mother, Melanie Burns; father and stepmother, Justin and Cathy Burns; grandfather, Walter “Bookie” Burns; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lindsey and Daniel South, and, Alex and Robert South; nieces and nephews, London, Emerson, and Wyatt; and, former husband, Mik Lauric; along with all others who knew and loved her.

The family will receive visitors Friday, May 28, 2021 at The ROE at 100 S. Broad St. in Monroe from 4 pm to 6 pm. An outdoor memorial service will be held Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 11 am at Grace Monroe at 315 N. Madison Avenue in Monroe.  Keli would encourage attendees to wear bright and cheerful colors to support her wish for more of a celebration of her life than a mourning of her passing.
