Janet Brown

Janet Brown, age 84, Chamblee, Georgia died March 2, 2025. Janet was born in Birmingham, Alabama to the late, Doris and Charles Whitehead. She became interested in baseball at a very young age. She often visited Rickwood Field in Birmingham with her grandfather “Daddy Tom” to watch the Birmingham Barons play. Later in life, she became an avid Braves fan. As a teenager, she loved to dance to the music of the 1950s. Buddy Brown was not a dancer, but Janet thought he was good looking. On June 30th, 1958 Buddy and Janet eloped to Mississippi. The couple moved to Atlanta in 1960 and to Chamblee in 1964 to raise their family. Janet loved children and served as a Director of Childcare at various childcare facilities including the Raggedy Ann and Andy Nursery. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Morgan “Buddy” Brown III; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and John O’Neal; son and daughter-in-law, Morgan “Bud” Brown IV and Marion; grandchildren: Brad (Cyndi) O’Neal, Kim (Kevin) Caille, Morgan Brown, Megan Brown; great - grandchildren: Lennon and Myles O’Neal, Wesley and Duke Caille.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.  The family will receive guests at Fischer Funeral Care from 5 pm until the funeral service at 6:00 pm on Friday, March 7, 2025. Following the service the family invites guests to a reception at Fischer Funeral Care, 3742 Chamblee Dunwoody Road, Chamblee (678) 514-1000.
