Harriet Esta Leslie

Ms. Harriet Leslie, age 96, of Atlanta died Wednesday evening May 26, 2021, at her residence after an extended illness.

Ms. Leslie was born July 17, 1924 as the youngest child of John Calvin and Maybelle Wilson Leslie. Harriet graduated from Chamblee High School in 1941 and then attended Erskine College in Due West South Carolina where she earned a bachelor’s degree. After graduating from College, Harriet studied at the Georgia Medical College which led to her career as a lab technician at the VA hospital. These achievements were remarkable for a woman during this time period; but Harriet would want to be remembered for her impact she made in the Tucker and Doraville ARP Church as a musician and leader of youth and other women. Harriet impacted the lives of many generations locally and regionally with her work with the church youth.

Ms. Leslie is preceded in death by her parents and five siblings. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Ms. Harriet Leslie will be held Monday, May 31, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Fischer Funeral Care of Chamblee. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until the hour of the service. Interment will follow at Prosperity Cemetery of Chamblee.
