Frederick S. Joseph

 Beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Frederick Joseph, age 85, Atlanta, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2024. 
The eldest of seven children, Fred was born in Karachi, Pakistan, where he attended St. Patrick’s High School and College. He pursued his passion as a professor of English Literature, Economics and Civics at The Karachi Grammar School and St. Patrick’s High School and is still admired by the students he inspired. Fred is defined by his love for the works of William Shakespeare, keen knowledge of world politics, enthusiasm for the sport of Cricket, the game of Scrabble, classical movies and scotch.
In 1981, Fred moved his family to the U.S., sacrificing his thriving career for a better future for his children. Here he started a new career in banking and enjoyed traveling the globe after retirement. Admired as a sharp dresser and a consummate gentleman, Fred was also a man of strong faith and a parishioner at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church where he was a venerated lector and participated in OLA Players, RCIA and Stephen Ministeries.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Rita; son and daughter-in-law, Alwyn and Vyanti Joseph; daughter, Natasha Joseph, daughter and son-in-law, Naomi and Melvyn Fernandez; daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Mathew Mathews; and son and daughter-in-law Andrew and Lauren Joseph.
Brothers: Albert Joseph, Patrick Joseph, Michael Joseph, Anselm Joseph and Angelo Joseph.
Grandchildren: Armaan Joseph, Sameer Joseph, Kelsey Fernandez, Aidan Fernandez, Saajan Joseph, Rania Mathews, Laila Mathews, Cannon Joseph and Callan Joseph.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Maria Joseph, and sister, Gloria Joseph.
A vigil honoring Fred’s life will be held Friday, September 27, 2024, at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 1350 Hearst Drive NE, Atlanta, Georgia, 30319; 678-514-1000.
