Franklin Hanson Obituary

Frank Hanson lived a life well done...
If you knew him, you loved and admired him.  Frank was a proud man, a patriotic American, an incredible friend, brother, husband and father.  Frank worked hard most of his long life, inspiring those around him to do the same, he was a terrific teacher, always offering life advice, solutions to problems, a joke when you needed one, and he was one amazing storyteller.  Frank and his lovely bride Beverly shared a marriage that most aspire to, for 64 loving years.  They created two great kids, he was blessed with two wonderful grandchildren and two beautiful great grandchildren, my Dad liked to say; we are all here, all because two people fell in love.
Having the great privilege of living with him for these last 18 months has been such a blessing, my Daddy was an incredibly kind, loving, gentle soul, he loved to sing, he loved to laugh, and if he could make you smile, well, that made his whole day.
For all of us who were lucky enough to know and love Frank, his memory will live on in our hearts as a gift we will treasure forever.

Franklin Jerome (Frank) Hanson, 87, of Cape Coral, FL passed away on January 14, 2021. Frank was born at home in Cottage Grove, WI, December of 1933 with his grandmother as midwife. He was the loving son of the late James Gottfred (Fred) Hanson and Hazel Napstad Hanson; he was the loving husband of the late Beverly Ann Shepard Hanson whom he married on February 20, 1955, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Madison, WI and who preceded him in death on July 24, 2019. Frank was preceded in death by his brothers, James (Jim) Hanson, Leroy (Lee) Hanson, and his sisters Ingebelle Hanson, Helen Schoenick, Gladys Jacobson, and Arline Haynes. He is preceded in death by his son in law, Tim Mason.  Frank is survived by two loving children, Mark Hanson (Catherine) of La Plata, MD and Heidi Mason (Tim) of Roswell, GA; two grandchildren, David Hanson (Carley) and Amanda Hanson Matheny (Wes); as well as two great grandsons, Roman Hanson and Landon Matheny. Frank during his young years pursued boat racing, hotrods and motorbikes. He worked for his father in their family’s business and enjoyed time with his siblings and circle of friends. Frank graduated from East High School in 1952 and attended Saint Olaf College before getting married in 1955 and serving two years in the US Army.  Frank and his wife Beverly became parents with the birth of Mark in 1957 and Heidi in 1963. Frank out of the service worked as a Realtor and a salesman for Mautz Paint Company before settling in as a journeyman tile setter for L & O Tile Company. Frank and family left Madison in 1972 and moved south to sunny Cape Coral FL. Frank opened and managed his own tile business, Century Ceramic and Marble, until reaching the age of 60 when he sold the business and retired. Frank and his wife Beverly of 64 years built their dream home in 1989 where they lived out their retirement days in Southwest Florida surrounded by the beauty of the Gulf Coast and the blessing of many wonderful friends who always found the Hanson home open and inviting. Frank lived a wonderful and rewarding life. He was a honest hard working considerate and compassionate man that many respected and loved throughout all his years.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
