Dorothy Jane Jacques

Dorothy Jacques died peacefully in her sleep on Monday October 21, 2024, after suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for the last few years.  Her husband of 66 years Pierre (Pete) Jacques was at her side as always.  She is survived by Pete Jacques; daughter, Pam Jacques; son, Peter Jacques and wife, Katherine; daughter, Patricia (Tricia) Reidy and husband, Thomas and grandchildren: Joseph and Kevin Reidy.

Dorothy (Dot) was born in Chelmsford Massachusetts on December 11th 1936 to Patrick and Grace Welch and was blessed with a doting older brother, Robert Welch.  Through Robert and his wife, Evelyn, Dorothy was a loving aunt to Robert Welch, Richard Welch, James Welch, Dorothy Beauregard and Patricia Barry.

Dorothy worked hard to raise the children and create welcoming homes in the various places the family moved (MA, RI, NJ, NY and GA).  In each of these places she made friends and volunteered such as:  Huntington Hospital volunteer, Welcome Wagon, Women’s Groups, Church Circles and Bridge groups.  She was a good friend to many as she was always such a good listener.  Even complete strangers would tell her their troubles & tales.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the loving and compassionate caregivers and staff at Divine Guardian Hospice, Heartis Senior Living, Somerby Senior Living and our private caregivers over the last few years Joyce, Iffy and Jessica.
