Dolores Mae O’Reilly, 98, a former resident of Ridgewood, New Jersey passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026.
Dolores (Dee) was born in 1927 in Stowe Township, PA to Helena and Matthew Beljan, the sixth of nine children. She is survived by four of her children: Brian Joseph O’Reilly (Anne), John Patrick O’Reilly (Nancy), Patricia Marie Larson (Jamie), and Theresa Ann Wiegand (Edward) and 10 grandchildren: Mary, Jack, Christopher, Virginia, Hugh, Jacqueline, Michael, Elliott, Alexander, and Andrew. She is preceded in death by her husband Eugene Francis, her beloved children Eugene Edward and Christine Frances, and her siblings: Josephine, Matthew, Al, Louise, Regina, Alfred, and Ralph.
A graduate from Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in General Science, Dee worked three jobs to put herself through college. After working in the food science industry, Dee decided to change paths and became a stewardess for Northwest Airlines during the glory years of flying. Stationed in Seattle, Dee traveled around the world to Montana, Alaska, Japan, Italy, Greece, Turkey, and more. Her eyes would sparkle as she shared her adventures, including fly fishing in Cold Bay, Alaska; clam digging in Puget Sound; branding her own cattle in Montana; and watching the sunrise over Mount Fuji, Japan. She loved embracing different cultures and meeting people during her travels. Dee always had a warm, friendly smile and welcoming reception to all she met.
Upon meeting the “love” of her life, Eugene F O’Reilly, Dee moved back to the east coast, settled in Ridgewood, and raised a beautiful family of six children during her 65-year marriage. An incredibly devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Dee loved her family and always went above and beyond for them. Dee had such a creative imagination, frequently writing stories and inventing games that brought joy to children of all ages. She enjoyed gardening, tennis, reading, cards, antiques, coin collecting, traveling and especially interacting with people. A devout Catholic, Dee said the rosary daily. A lady of immense joy, love and faith, Dee will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know her.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, May 27th at 10:00am at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Atlanta. A rosary will be said at 9:30am.
