Dieter Venohr

Dieter Horst Ernst Venohr passed peacefully in his sleep on 4/8/24 at the age of 87 in Atlanta, GA. 

Despite being diagnosed with a serious illness 14 months prior, he was determined to live life on his terms, with love and laughter to the end.

Dieter was born on 4/29/1936 in Koenigsberg, Germany to parents Walter and Charlotte (Schwarz) Venohr.

As a youngster he learned the art of hairstyling at his parent's salon in Germany. In 1963 he was offered an opportunity to travel to the USA with Cordes-Hendreks. After a short stint in Houston, he got settled in Atlanta, Georgia to be part of a team of talented master stylists at Lenox Center and various prestigeous salons in Atlanta.

In 1965 he bought his beautiful house in Buckhead GA, where he lived and died, just as he had wished. Countless memories were made in this home where many of us had the privilege to visit or even live with him.

Dieter was a very special person, loved by young and old. He enjoyed to travel and to live life to the fullest. People around him were drawn to his positive nature and kind hearted spirit. He touched many of our hearts and will be remembered fondly forever. 

Dieter was one of four siblings, the third of four brothers. He is survived by his brother Peter Venohr and family, Christel, Oliver and Susanne. Also by his sister-in-law Lilly Venohr with daughters Andrea and Beate with great nephew Martin. As well by his sister-in-law Monika Venohr with daughters Bianca and Verena. 

Dieter was predeceased by his niece Marion Venohr and his two brothers Hans Venohr and Klaus Venohr. 

A memorial service for Dieter will be held on Saturday  4/20/24 at 11am at Fischer Funeral Care at 3742 Chamblee Dunwoody Rd, Atlanta, GA 30341 

The service will be live streamed and video taped to allow loved ones out of town to attend and view later, if desired.
