Cruz Delia Johnson

Cruz “Delia” Johnson, passed away at age 82, August 22, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia.  Born July 11, 1944, Delia grew up in Fajardo, Puerto Rico.  At the age of 12, she traveled to New Jersey with her father where she will later meet and marry her high school sweetheart.  

With her gentle nature and great concern for the wellbeing of others, Delia had aspirations of becoming a nurse after graduating from Asbury Park High School.  As life would have it, she went in a different direction and relocated to Atlanta, Georgia in the mid 1980’s.

She enjoyed soul and gospel music, playing games on her tablet, crocheting, making jewelry, gardening, most of all cooking, and spending time with her family.  She knew no strangers. She had a generous heart and always made others feel included. Genuine and true to her spirit, she was a gentle soul.  Along with her warm smile and infectious laugh, Delia will be greatly missed by her family and all that knew her.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, two sisters, cousins, and nieces and nephews.
