Cindy Harrington Obituary

Cindy Lou Harrington, 68, born April 24, 1953, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2021, in Atlanta, Georgia. For many years, Cindy lived in the Stone Mountain area and could often be found climbing to the top and making new friends. She was a member of Unity North and enjoyed sharing her gift of music at various Unity congregations in the Southeast. From 1987 to 2012, she balanced her enthusiasm for music and with a career in the DeKalb County School System where she taught visually impaired students. This eventually led to the invention and patenting of The Handy Eye Chart in partnership with Emory University. Cindy inherited her love of music from her father and passed that passion down to her children and grandchildren. She was a dedicated musician and singer-songwriter and a member of a number of music organizations as well as President of the Georgia Music Industry Association from 2000 to 2004. She never gave up her guitar and could be found playing as part of her rehabilitation from a rare condition of Autoimmune Encephalitis. She kept the mantra “self-care trumps everything” and lovingly passed it along to all who knew her. Cindy was predeceased by her parents Marjorie and Roger Harrington and her brothers, Michael and Derek.

She is survived by her children Brittany Harrington Pool (Austin) Cyr and Taylor June Pool (Joseph) Estes, her sister AmyLynn Harrington Smoot (William Smoot) ;  sweetheart Michael Wheeler; her  precious grandchildren, Nathan and Cadence Cyr and Isaiah, Adelyn, and McKenna Estes; many nieces, nephews, “adopted daughters,” and countless friends that she loved like family.
