Obituary

Betsy Laura Razza (nee Jaecks), devoted wife of John Razza, beloved mother of Jonathan & Daniel Razza, cherished sister of Nancy Jaecks and mother-in-law of Emily Hoppe Razza, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family and so ended her 10 year journey through Alzheimer’s Disease.

Betsy was born in Cheverly, Maryland, a suburb of Washington D.C. and was a teacher and librarian in the Dekalb County School System for 20 years.  Betsy had achieved Masters and Specialist degrees in Library & Media Science from Emory and Georgia State Universities. Prior to her retirement in 2014 Betsy was the Head Media Specialist at Druid Hills High School.  She was an active member and past-president of the Georgia Library Media Association (GLMA) and in 2005 was named Media Specialist of the Year for the State of Georgia. Betsy was active at the state capital advocating for the greater support of school media specialists in Georgia and was a staunch supporter of literary freedom for libraries.

Betsy was an avid gardener and attained recognition as a Master Gardener in 2009. She was also a talented acrylics & mixed media painter, an avid vegetarian cook, and loved to work on puzzles accompanied by her cats, Catherine & Thomas.

Betsy was a proud grandmother to two grandsons, Nathan Razza and his yet-to-be-born brother. She was also the much beloved aunt of Jennifer and Evan Jaecks-Bonnet.  Betsy will be deeply missed by everyone she loved and touched in her life with her overwhelming sweetness and her unwaveringly caring, gentle and loving nature.
