Angeline Browning Smith

Angeline`“Angie” Browning Smith, age 78, of Sandy Springs, GA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on June 18, 2024. Angie was born, in 1945, in Columbus, Indiana to the late Lucy Landrum and Elmer William Browning. The Browning family eventually settled in Marietta, Georgia where Angie formed lifelong friendships and graduated from Marietta High School. Angie met her husband of 56 years, Mark Anthony Smith III in Atlanta where they were married in 1968. Angie and Mark shared a love for family, friends, and rescue dogs. They traveled the world together but her favorite place to visit was the beach at Matanzas Inlet in Florida. Whether it was walking her dogs on the beach, gardening, or running Angie loved being outside and staying active. With friends always by side, she ran the Peachtree Road Race over thirty times.

As an active member of St James Methodist Church in Sandy Springs, Angie greatly enjoyed fellowship with the Circle of Sisters.

Angie will lovingly be remembered by family and friends for her kindness and generous spirit.

Angie is survived by her husband Mark; son, Michael Alan Smith; sister, Judy Browning Cowin (Tim); in-laws Leila and Richard “Dick” Doll; nieces: Angie Gribble (Gabe) and Angelynn Doll (Eric Howe); nephew, Richard “DJ” Doll (Christy Pullara); great-niece Smith Howe, and great nephews: Dylan Yoder, Canon Gribble, Ryder and Mason Doll. As well as, her companion pups: Sugar Bear and Pepper.

Angie was predeceased by her dear son, Mark Anthony Smith IV, her parents: Lucy and Elmer; brother, William “Bill” Browning; uncle, William Sanford Landrum; in-laws, Lurline and Mark Anthony Smith Jr, and son-in-law, Stephen O’Brien.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday June 27, 2024, at 2pm, at St James Methodist Church, 4400 Peachtree Dunwoody Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30342.
