Andres Martinez Ponce Obituary

It is with pain that our families announce the death of Andrés Martinez Ponce. Mr. Ponce suddenly passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022, surrounded by his family. Everyone knows that Don Andrés was a very humble, kind, hardworking, easy-going, and loving person that would help you without wanting anything in return. He loved to remind anyone that “cuando hay, hay y cuando no hay, no hay.” Originally from Jacala De Ledezma, Hidalgo, Mexico, Andrés married and had four children. Andrés spent his life working extremely hard to give his family everything he could while ensuring that his mother and father were cared for to the best of his abilities. Like many other migrants, Andrés’s dream was to become a part of this country, and in September 1990, he was granted permanent residency in the United States. Years later, once he became a citizen, he achieved his goal of bringing his kids to this country. One thing that gave him joy was loading up his truck with goods for his family and friends and driving 1,800 miles one way to Mexico to personally deliver them during the holiday season. He also loved to bring back many native goods, including “pan de rancho” (bread from the ranch), so the people in the US that couldn’t travel like him could enjoy a little something from their hometown. On one fateful night while out with friends, he met “Lupita” on a dance floor, and years later, with the blessing of her kids, he married her. Don Andrés and Lupe would tie the knot in June 2016 and instantly gained four extra kids and three grandkids: Alexa Berenice, Axel Raúl, and Alexia. Don Andrés would often mention that having arrived in Lupita’s life gave him the utmost happiness in his life. He’d say he felt loved by all four of her kids, which made him feel part of the family. Don Andrés loved his parents, kids, wife, and his ability to care for them more than anything. He is survived by his beloved mom Esperanza, his wife Guadalupe, his kids Javier, Andres, Araceli, and Liliana, along with six grandchildren, Sofia, Brian, Jesus, Alison, Ian, and Andres Sarai. He leaves behind his sisters: Inez Martinez, Maria Guadalupe Martinez, and Alfonsa Trejo. He also leaves behind his stepson & roommate, Jesus Antonio, and stepdaughters Angelica, Rocio, and Aurora. He’s predeceased by his father, Mr. Gonzalo Martinez, and brother Martin, who passed away just over a year before him.
